Olmedo Quimbita has more than 40 years of artistic experience. He has lived in several countries in addition to his native Ecuador, where he now resides.

He is known in Ecuador as "The Painter of Light" and has held exhibitions in Colombia, Paraguay, Brazil, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Chile, Bolivia, Mexico, Uruguay, Guatemala and Panama, to name a few countries.

His work is colorfully Fauvist, with costumbrist themes and cubist treatments in its forms and perspective. He focused more on the colors of the scene depicted than on the precision of forms.

Olmedo has visited us on several occasions, his first visit being in 1999. Most of the collection of his work we have was painted in our gardens and workshops. He creates these works mainly on canvas, although he also experiments with various backings, exploring synthetic oils formulated by Francisco Quiroz .
